Emergency Medical Service Helicopter
Patient entrance
The patient must be inserted with the head in the flight direction.
For spinal column injuries there's a vacuum mattress available.
There' s no much place, so the patient must be completely
prepared for flight outside the helicopter.

Place of the patient
The basic equipment consitst of : Oxygen, EKG-defibrillator
blood pressure, perfusor, pulsoxymetric and kapnometric
equipment. With the help of this equipment the doctor can
monitor the patient during flight and is able to handle if
necessary.
Place of emergency doctor

From here he watches the patient.
The complete body of the patient is covered and the doctor
can only see the head. Materials like medicin, bandage,
infusion, and injection equipment are all stored in the backpack.

The paramedic (on the left side, in orange
suit)

During flight he takes over the navigation and observation. Also
he keeps radio contact with the ground command station. Outside
the helicopter he assists the emergency doctor. After each
operation he prepares all medical equipment for the next flight.
For qualification to do this job, the HEMS (Helicopter
Emergency Medical Service) training, due to JAR-OPS 3,
must be completed succesfully.
